At Red Girls Project we are filled with excitement and pride because one of our colleagues, Ángela Peña, physiotherapist specializing in pelvic floor, This month, she's traveling to Kenya to begin, together with Mama Kasinde, the first phase of our project to provide access to menstrual hygiene in the Maasai community. This is a very special moment for us: it represents the starting point of an initiative we've dreamed of, planned, and worked on with great enthusiasm, and which is now beginning to become a reality. 🌺
This project stems from a deep conviction: all women and girls worldwide have the right to experience menstruation with dignity, information, and safety. The lack of access to adequate menstrual products and comprehensive menstrual education remains a barrier that limits the health, education, and opportunities of millions of women globally. In many rural areas of Kenya, particularly in Maasai communities, young women are often forced to stay home during their periods because they lack the resources to manage them comfortably and hygienically. This translates into missed school days, reduced opportunities, and a sense of exclusion that we aim to help dismantle.
💜 A project with a vision for the future
From the outset, we wanted this project to be sustainable, community-based, and transformative. We don't want to fall into the trap of providing handouts, but rather offer real tools so that the women in the community can continue developing the project themselves.
Therefore, a key part of our work will be to train local groups in the production of reusable menstrual pads, using readily available materials adapted to the needs of the region. This training will be conducted through sewing workshops, taking advantage of school holidays, so that young women can also participate and learn a trade.
In addition, we will offer talks and workshops on menstrual health and women's empowerment, creating safe spaces to talk openly about bodies, cycles, and self-esteem. We know that breaking the taboo surrounding menstruation is fundamental to moving towards true equality. When a woman understands her body and has the resources to care for it, she gains autonomy, confidence, and a sense of belonging within her community. 🌿
🤝 An inspiring alliance with Mama Kasinde
This project would not be possible without the collaboration with Mama Kasinde, a Kenyan woman incredibly committed to her community and to defending women's rights. With her experience and leadership, we will be able to reach the territory in a respectful, effective, and deeply rooted way.
Mama Kasinde has firsthand knowledge of the needs of the Maasai community and will help us ensure that every step of the project is adapted to the local cultural and social realities. Our collaboration is therefore an alliance between women who share a common vision: a world where no girl has to sacrifice her education or freedom due to a lack of menstrual products.
🩸 How you can collaborate
For this project to take shape, we need everyone's involvement. We've launched a campaign to collect sanitary pads and raise funds, which will allow us to both send supplies and buy directly from Kenya, thus supporting the local economy.
👉 In Logroño you will find two collection points, where you can bring new or reusable sanitary pads, as well as other materials related to menstrual hygiene.
👉 If you prefer, you can make a financial donation that will help us buy products there and cover the costs of training and materials for the workshops.
Every sanitary pad, every euro, every gesture of support is a seed of change. It's not just about products: it's about rights, health, and dignity. And you can be part of that change.

✨ An adventure full of excitement
This trip to Kenya is much more than a one-off event. It's the beginning of a long-term project that will grow with each woman who gets involved. Our colleague is traveling with a heart full of energy and a willingness to listen, learn, and share. We know the exchange will be mutual: we bring knowledge and resources, but we will also return with stories, lessons learned, and the hope of continuing to expand the network of women who support and empower one another.
At Red Girls Project, we firmly believe that female empowerment begins with solidarity. When one woman helps another, the world changes. 💫
Follow us on our social media channels to learn about the entire process and see how the project is progressing for the Maasai community. We'll share images, testimonials, and moments that will remind us that when we work together, nothing is impossible.
Thank you for being part of that dream. Thank you for believing in change.
With every action, every sanitary pad, and every word, we are weaving a fairer, freer, and more equal future.🌸
